Introduction :-
Civil engineering affects many of our daily activities building we live in and work in , transportation fecilities , water use the srink and drainage and sewage system that are necessary to our health and well-being . cavil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the construction design and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment including public work such as roads , bridge , sewage system plumbing structural component of building and Airport.
Importance of civil engineering:-
The modern society would not exist without civill engineering for examples - civil enginer were necessary to build every part of our transportation infrastructure , from roads and bridge to dock , railways station , and airport . The development of our utilities , such as water, electricity amd cell- phone , internet service,,required professional civil engineering knowledge . All that is before we even get into use of civil engineering for huge public structure like Dam, power plants, water treat plant, and road highway.
Types of civil engineering :-
1. Construction and management :-
This programme is a combined study of basic civil engineering and construction management courses. graduate shall be knowledgeable on fundamental of structure and construction engineering like design and analysis material testing and building system, construction technologies and quality assence and surveying.
2.Geotechnical Engineering:-
It is also known as techniques , is the branch of civil engineering concerned with engineering behaviour of our earth material . its is utilizes the disciplines of rock and soil mechanics to investigate subsurface and geologic condition . This investigation are used to design , and build foundation earth structure and pavement sub -grades.
3. Structural engineering:-
it is a field of engineering dealing with the analysis and design of structure that support or resist loads. The structural engineering theory is based upon physical laws and empirical knowledge of structure performance of diferent material and geometric.
4.Transportation engineering;-
It is the application of technology and scientific principles to the planning, functional design . operation and management of fecilities for any mode of transportation in order to provide for the safe , efficient, rapid comfortable, convenience , economically compatible movement of people and goods transport.
5. Water engineering :-
water engineering is a sub-set of civil engineering that focuses on the study of how water reacts in natural system such as coast estuaries and river as well man-made environment
6. Coastal engineering:-
it is a branch of civil enginering concerned with the specific demands posed by constructing at or near the coast , as well-as development of the cost .
7.Highways engineering:-
It is the branch of civil enginering that deal with the planning or study about roads design construction and maintenance also including all type of travelling system , like airport , Railways station , roads etc...
8. Architecture enginnering :-
It is also type of civil engineering that deal with study and planning about mapping draw project design before construction . Architecture is very usefull for all type of construction like Dam , railways, mall, tower building, thermal power plant , bridge , tunnels
